West Harlem at night

This wasn't the shot I was planning to take for today's entry. But the opportunity for dinner with a friend prevented me from venturing on to the Columbia campus. I'll have to save that for another night. After dinner, I wandered a bit around the neighborhood and this shot was the one that caught my eye. It had a bit of competition from a shot of the 125th St subway escalator, but that one will have to wait for another opportunity. Looking at it full screen, I think I would have preferred to shoot it at a narrower focal length and higher ISO. Oh well, lessons learned are part of this exercise.

Riverside Dr. Overpass at Sunset

My intent had been to take an image of the fantastic curves of the structure under the overpass. I shot early in the afternoon and wasn't satisfied with the results. I went back at sunset and the light was just wonderful. It turned the support structure a wonderful hue. I got some lovely shots of the entire structure, but I really liked this shot of just part of the support. It's probably because I've shot the structure as a whole many times in the past and have quite a few nice shots. But this is the first close-up that I've liked.
